We've stayed here once & eaten here twice. 5 stars each time. I have full confidence I could order any item off the restaurant's menu & be blown away. I had the lamb shank, whi H was cooked to perfection & just fell off the bone & the apple strudel (which you have to wait a bit for as it is prepared fresh) was ridiculously tasty. Decor here is amazing & rooms beautifully tasteful. Staff super friendly & accommodating. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Our stay here had been postponed twice, and we had gone off the boil a bit. However the Halvard quickly ignited our enthusiasm for our break. All the staff, especially David, were amazingly efficient and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was exceptionally good, although could have done with a change of dinner menu halfway through the week. Having said that, the chef was able to come up with another veggie main when asked (only 1 on menu). Everywhere is spotlessly clean, cant fault housekeeping. Our room, 204, was a little small and an odd shape. This could easily be rectified by reconfiguring the bathroom, taking a foot off, and giving more space in the room. All in all we had a great time, would go back, and certainly recommend to anyone. Footnote, no disabled access at front.

This is a review of the hotel’s restaurant, though the accommodation is stunning too. We went to this little gem for a couples meal for a special occasion. It’s was a Thursday evening and relatively quiet, as I just don’t think people have become aware of it as a dining venue yet. The food and service was excellent throughout, pre dinner cocktails were mixed to perfection and innovative in their styles. A tasty spiced potato amuse-bouche was offered instead of traditional bread which was lovely. The starters were fantastically flavoursome and portioned well, and the mains where cooked perfectly and presented excellently. We enjoyed a bottle of house wine with our meal which was of a very high standard too. Thoroughly recommend this hidden gem of a venue, both for stays and for food and drink.
