3-a-day in May – We are in!
The Finest.im team have signed up to the ‘3-a-day in May’ global challenge with Plastic Busters Isle of Man.
At Finest.im we are conscious of our actions and are committed to protecting our planet. As part of the Finest.im active travel to work strategy our staff have been given the challenge to pick up 3 pieces of plastic throughout May during their walk into work.
According to Plastic in the Ocean statistics 2020-2021 the world produces 381 million tonnes in plastic waste every year and this is set to double by 2034. 50% of this is single-use plastic and only 9% is recycled. In the British Isles we contribute with an estimated 1.7 million tonnes of plastic annually.
Did you know 1 in 3 fish caught for human consumption contains plastic and 100% of baby sea turtles have plastic in their stomachs.
Now is the time to give back and pay it forward. Join us in the ‘3-a-day in May’ challenge and help combat plastic pollution on our island. It is very easy and takes up very little time in your day.
How the ‘3-a-day in May’ challenge works:
- Pick up 3 pieces of plastic every day throughout May.
- Take video and/or pictures of your ‘3 Pieces of Plastic’.
- Share them on the Plastic Busters Isle of Man Facebook group and your own social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Twitter…) using the hashtag #plasticbusters and #3ADayInMay. Plus, don’t forget to tag Plastic Busters Isle of Man.
And as a token of appreciation Plastic Busters Isle of Man will plant a tree here on our island for every participant taking part in the ‘3-a-day in May’ global challenge. So, not only will you be tackling plastic pollution you will also be reducing our carbon footprint and helping our island to meet its net zero targets.
